I still enjoyd the game but i always felt that theres just too much to do and finally had to force myself to skip random sidequests and locations to progress the mainstory. It just feels very weird. I finished the game and still had TONS to do, and yes some of the things are very similar and semi-repetitive but its gorgeous and pretty alive feeling. Cookies help us deliver our Services. TL:DR: I agree that Odyssey needs a greater amount of diversity in its activities and side quests, and that the main missions could use some unique/scripted set pieces. What about my saved game?! Repetitive, unimaginative, and slow paced. Those are something I’ll never miss. shelia ed_x. Was playing RDR2 but it was so boring and slow to me that once I picked Odyssey up, I never touched RDR2 again. It’s big so it could give you a sense of exploration and depth of the Greek world. Anybody else playing this game? wow just wow. Grinding is a part of the game, the intent is that you enjoy the grind enough that it feels rewarding instead of like work. What Illuminatus said is good advice. It might also help to read the mission descriptions pages before starting each story mission, to refresh you on exactly whats happening in the main story. I think I put it down after 96ish hours. What is happening........... im sad, I can't believe this is happening to my AC odyssey game right now. I enjoy getting a lot of game time for my money, buy I am starting to think AC: Odyssey might be too big. Fortunately, it hasn’t happened for me yet, but if the next game has this issue and is bigger again, it just might. Yes, the branching quests and options make for an engaging way of shaping your narrative, but they also stripped Odyssey of some the cinematic flair and quality that the AC series is known for. It is simply huge. The lack of set-pieces and unique Assassinations is disappointing. It's the gameplay loop that's entertaining to me. It's a very fun game to play and there is variety in the gameplay at first, but the more you play it the more you realize it's all the same. I also spend so much time away from the main narrative, that I forget whats happening and it seems to meander and progresses really slowly as a result. I agree wholeheartedly. I really don't see how you can justify saying that the old games were more diverse. This game is overwhelming. Length of playtime is such a poor measure of a games value or quality. I have not even gone halfway in the story. All trademarks are property of their respective owners in the US and other countries. They are great but too much mindless grind just to drag a game out. Its a lot of value for the game. If it still gives you trouble, you may need to delete files from the \steamapps\downloading folder. I have put almost 46 hours of gameplay and still most of the map is undiscovered. I'm 85 hours in and still having a tonne of fun, with old school AC games it would have been beaten in 15-20 hours and traded in. I cannot disagree with this any more. At least it used to be optional for the most part but more and more they are forcing it to so that they can sell time saver micro transactions. If it’s enjoyable then surely it was worth the 8 bucks per hour. Cookies help us deliver our Services. “The strings should be severed. Steam says to install again my AC Odyssey and then now when i click to play it needs to be updated 42 gb again! I think it’s only reasonable to acknowledge that many of the previous instalments sidequests were also the same copied and pasted tasks or targets. Can this be fixed? Last year i couldn't install a game to save my life, and kept getting hard drive errors like crazy. I disagree fully. Once it makes a new AC folder, just exit Steam entirely, rename your old AC folder to the correct name or move all the files from it to the new one Steam made, and restart Steam. It gives you some goals way early on that you won't have a chance to complete until you've reach level 48 or higher, but that takes so many hours and a great many of the missions are pretty repetitive. Very engaging with solid side content. Though with no Assassins Creed planned for this year I have got a while to finish it. I’m totally fine with sheer size of the game. What is happening..... im sad < > Showing 1-15 of 24 comments . Couldn't agree more. Why the fuck is this getting downvoted?? Then afterwards you can do some of the open world stuff as a type of epilogue if you're so inclined. Were there no need for the dialogue branches, we’d have something more traditional because there’s be more room for scripted set pieces. But that's not enough to redeem this change. Forts ,Caves and Outposts are copy pasted everywhere. Odyssey is too big and bloated, I miss more the more focused and diverse games (AC2, ACB, ACR) One thing I've really noticed is how different it feels from something like AC2. Every interaction with another character now becomes a static back and forth between the same two frames, and for me, that made it hard to get invested in some of the more emotional or thrilling scenes, no matter how convincing the VA work is. Wouldn't ever wanna go back. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts. Funny. Whereas the earlier games featured way less variety and were bloated by pointless collecribles. Praesi. 100% agree. I just think it's a bad video game, honestly. No problems at all in Odyssey, it's all so motivating but I like to let my self drift in open worlds. Make sure your hard drive isn't failing. Yes, almost everything is the same - the towns, islands, NPCs, etc. Just rename the AC install folder where you currently have all the files. If a game can't deliver to me hundreds of hours of entertainment, it's not a good game. After playing a game like RDR2 where the world feels alive, and everything feels so organic..... ACO just feels like a run of the mill video game with 300 fetch/kill quests. One thing I've really noticed is how different it feels from something like AC2. I’ve gotten 100% sync and every achievement for every major instalment in the AC series released so far, and let me tell you, I’d rather take out camps and animal lairs than open chests and collect feathers. But I’m also glad the series has moved away from cluttered collectibles and replaced them with something a tad more engaging. I miss the black box style assassinations of Unity and Syndicate, however it is only fair to acknowledge that the series has had its fair share of scripted assassinations that could not be done in a strictly stealthy way well before Origins. I really dug the main narrative of Odyssey, but some of the gameplay felt anti-climactic perhaps? Odyssey is repetitive with a boring AF story, and horrible writing/voice acting. I am in complete agreement in regards to the main missions. I'd much rather have a smaller, shorter game, with more scripted, and varied sequences, mechanics, environments and characters, rather than this massive overwhelming work with a plethora of open-ended content, (that is constantly accessible, and approachable from any angle. I'm 40 hours in and starting to really lose steam. I never got bored or anything. For news, discussion and more about Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise. I thought it was perfect around 170 hours for all achievements completed. At around 90 hours, it's the longest I've played a singleplayer game with only 1 playthrough. I am over 100 hours in easily, still massively enjoying the new DLC content. That's what I experienced when playing Unity where I almost couldn't see the map anymore below all the icons. I think its that's just a result of it being an RPG, instead of a classic "action-adventure" (which is already an extremely vague term) that most AC games were. I refuse to buy the XP boosts, but for the most part i haven’t felt the need to do side content to progress, and don’t feel fatigued by it then. You must be reallllllly bored to waste your money on this. I’ll be lucky if I even finish odyssey before Pokémon comes out. “Traversal is a drag because the map is too big.” Are people really complaining about this? Having said that, the previous games also suffered from this problem in a slightly different way, in the sense that their cluttered maps and collectibles were the problem rather than locations and side quests. I am still logging and playing the game, I'm having fun, but I fully realize I'm just repeating the same thing over and over and over again. Origins is the perfect mix of size, story, side missions and entertainment. All rights reserved. I aslo find the side content, especially outside the quests, to be really repetitive. so to know that i won't be done with the game anytime soon, makes me quite happy. Dont know why but I played only an hour of RDR2 and got bored as hell.. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. I'd rather have the old mission structure back - it might have been a bit more linear at times, but it kept the stories focused and interesting. Turns out hard drive was just failing badly, i replaced the hard drive. I do not think it is to long. I'm hating myself for writing this, but if you want more of a classic AC experience the best solution would probably be to buy one of those exp boosters so you don't need to do as many side missions. I hate paying $80 and only getting 10-30 hours. when i checked my ac odyssey game now in my steam its weird to see "install". Even at 10 hours that’s only 8 bucks an hour. When its done i have to update the 42 gb again. But I also found it immersive and fun to explore, so the hours flew by. I really wish this had just been another 9 hour game I could play multiple times like AC 2. It’s a phenomenal game with a fantastic story and the best open world I’ve seen to date. I only feel fatigued when I’m doing side content just to do it. Right now the bloat of content lacks enough variety to be be consistently engaging and really disrupts the flow and pacing of the narrative. Still a good game I was just spoiled by a far better, polished one. I mean Greece is a big country and if it was based in a city or two it would be a bit low on content but yeah I get what you mean like sometimes when I’m trying to climb I fall straight back down because the building/rock hasn’t rendered in yet. I never know where I should be going or what I should be doing, leading to choice paralysis. Anybody else playing this game? This is obviously the result of this RPG mechanic being introduced. There is a definite lack of unique set piece moments and overall not much variety in gameplay. now it needs to be update again.. i purchased so much from the ubisoft store and now i need to play odyssey from scratch?!! I’m kinda right in the middle with this. I’ve spent 108 hours on Odyssey and have completed everything there is to do, bar the dailies and respawns etc. Besides that, AC was never meant to be a full on RPG with choices and now they did it. When im about to play the screen says install the game. It's more of an RPG now instead of an Action Adventure Game so you can easily get 100 hours like any other great RPG. Wow this never happenes before when steam local file in my games library tried to re-install the game and i dont need to update. Odyssey is just too much damn work!
